Our standards

Our commitments on sourcing, review, corrections and AI

Sourcing

Every factual claim we make is footnoted to a credible source. Wherever we can, we go to the original: official statistics, central bank and government publications, and company filings. Where we rely on news reporting, it comes from reputable outlets. Charts are usually rebuilt from verified data, not copied from elsewhere.

Review and fact-checking

Every article is reviewed by a senior researcher before it reaches a publisher, and every figure in it is checked against its source. If a piece falls short, it goes back to its author with notes, and it is not published until it meets the standard.

Corrections

If you think we have got something wrong, email hello@thelondonreview.org.uk with a link to the article and a note on the error.

AI

Our authors write their own work. They may use an AI assistant as a second reader, to check figures or catch mistakes, but not to write their argument. Anything an assistant suggests is checked independently before it goes into an article. Any image made or altered by AI is declared on the article, and we never publish photorealistic AI images.

Independence

The London Review is run by students. The views in each article are those of its author, and do not represent the editorial stance of The London Review or the views of the London School of Economics, University College London or any affiliated institution.

Not financial advice

Nothing we publish is financial, investment or legal advice. Our articles are written to inform and explain, not to tell anyone what to buy, sell or hold. If you are making a financial decision, speak to a qualified adviser.
